Today’s gem is from Dr. Haifaa Younis’ course, A Pure Heart. In this gem Dr. Haifaa shares why it can be so difficult for us to wake up for Fajr in the morning.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

I'm going to say something that maybe hits home.

When people come to me and say it's very difficult for me to wake up for Fajr, the first thing I ask is: what did you do before you went to bed? What did you watch?

It kills me when I enter Muslim homes. People come to me, the husband is in the first row of Salah, and the woman is in every single class. Then I come into the home and every room has a huge TV screen with so and so program and this and that.

Focus on Allah.

Before you do anything or say anything, ask Him: Is this pleasing to You? Not what is pleasing to you, what’s pleasing to Him.

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to please Him.
