We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

When Allah ﷻ mentions increasing their faith, it refers to adding to their existing faith. The Prophet ﷺ already had abundant faith, but this was a gift from Allah ﷻ, who would increase the Prophet's iman through divine means. Similarly, the Prophet ﷺ possessed great wisdom, yet Allah ﷻ increased him in wisdom as well.

One of my teachers once said that these are two things—faith and wisdom—that no human being can ever get enough of. As you attain them, they only deepen the desire to acquire more. For example, a person who begins to gain wisdom and practices it will become desperate to increase in wisdom, seeking it everywhere so they can properly understand the world around them. Likewise, someone who tastes the sweetness of iman (faith) will crave more and more of it. The sweetness of iman is unlike anything else, and once experienced, not only would you hate to lose it, but you would also want more of it.

Thus, Allah ﷻ increased the Prophet ﷺ in both iman (faith) and hikmah (wisdom) not only as preparation for the night of ascension but also as a gift in itself.

May Allah ﷻ increase us in faith and wisdom.
