Assalamu Alaykum,

Today’s gem is from Shaykh Abdullah Waheed’s course, The Ultimate Miracle: The Book of Qur’anic Virtues from Sahih Al-Bukhari. In this gem, Shaykh Abdullah gives us insight into how the Prophet ﷺ would walk.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

The Prophet ﷺ would walk with a fast pace - as if he was on a mission. As if he was coming down a hill, as if he was on a decline from a hilly area. 

He wouldn't stomp the floor so hard. It comes in the narrations that if the Prophet ﷺ was to walk by a candle, his walk would be so soft, so gentle, it would not extinguish the fire. And if he was to walk on dry wood, you could not hear the noise from the bottom of his feet because of the gentleness of the walk of the Prophet ﷺ. He was very soft.

And Allah ﷻ speaks about the walk of pious people:

Allah ﷻ says that the servants of Allahﷻ walk on the earth with humility. This ayah is about the pious people, so how would the walk of the Prophet ﷺ be? 

He would look down more than he looked up. He was always in a very humble form. His humility was overwhelming, especially in victory - always looking down and walking with a purpose. The Sahaba said there were times when the Prophet ﷺ would walk, and we would run behind him; that's how fast he would walk. 

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to embody the characteristics of the Prophet ﷺ.

أقول قولي هذا وأستغفر الله لي ولكم، فاستغفروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
