Assalamu Alaykum,

Today’s gem is from Shaykh Abdullah Waheed’s Course, from Taif to Makkah: The Prophet ﷺ’s Forgiveness. In this gem, Shaykh Abdullah shares the dua of Asiya (wife of the Pharoah) as she was leaving this world.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Asiya, when she was leaving this world, made a powerful dua. She said:

She said near you, build me a palace.

I don’t know how particular men are about their homes, but I do know from my own family that many sisters are often very particular about their homes. They strive to create a space that protects and nurtures their families.

When a woman sacrifices all her dreams for the sake of Allah ﷻ and Islam, look at the remarkable dua of Asiya. She didn’t just ask for a palace; she prioritized being close to Allah ﷻ first. The scholars say:

سالت الجار قبل الدار
She asked for the neighborhood before the palace

She said, "near You, a house," rather than, "a house near You."

This shows her priorities. She sought nearness to Allah ﷻ above all else, knowing that everything else would fall into place.

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to prioritize Allah ﷻ.

أقول قولي هذا وأستغفر الله لي ولكم، فاستغفروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
