Today we’re going through a gem from Mufti Abdul Wahab Waheed’s Analysis of Surah Fatiha course on what the greatest name of Allah is. Hope you enjoy!

We begin in the Name of Allah , the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad

Why is the name Allah so specific, so beautiful, and so different from all the other names that we use to refer to the Supreme Being that Created the Universe? What makes the name Allah different from Khuda, or Bhagwan, or God?

One of the reasons for this is that every single letter in the name Allah, has the meaning of Allah in it. For proof of this, we can take a look at the Quran.

We start with Allah ( الله), if you take the Alif (ا) off, you are left with lillahi( لله).

Allah says in Surah Baqarah, Ayah 284:

Thus, if you take the Alif (ا) off you are still left with the meaning of Allah.

Now on top of the Alif (ا), let’s take the first laam (ل) off. This leaves us with lahu (له).

Allah says in Surah Baqarah, Ayah 116:

Now let's take this one step further. Let’s take out everything except the pronoun hu (ه) at the end. Hu (ه) is the attached form of the pronoun and the unattached form is huwa (هو).

Allah says in Surah Muzammil, Ayah 9:

Hence, in each and every letter of the word Allah, you find the meaning of Allah.

Another beautiful gem from the name Allah (الله) is the fact that it has no dots. In Arabic those words which have no dots are known to be extremely strong. And it is also a jamid word, meaning it is not derived from anything according to the majority of scholars.

May Allah grant us tawfiq to learn His deen and earn His pleasure.

أقول قولي هذا وأستغفر الله لي ولكم، فاستغفروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
