Assalamu Alaykum,

Today we’re going through a gem from Mufti Abdul Wahab’s Kings, Prophets, and Family course (which is available for free even if you don’t have a Miftaah Portal subscription). In this gem, Mufti Abdul Wahab explains which individuals Allah refers to as the biggest losers in the Qur’an.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Allah tells us that there are many people that are trying to do good and they think they are actually doing good but they're not.

Why? Because of the objective they have in mind; it's why they're doing it.

Doing good is not only about the what you’re doing, but it's also about why you’re doing it. And therein lies the definition of sincerity: ask the why.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

Allah says should I not inform you of who the biggest loser is? What comes next is absolutely beautiful, and scary.

He says that the biggest loser is that individual whose efforts are misguided.

They're making effort, but they're doing it for the wrong reason. They're putting their bodies through so much difficulty, they have sleepless nights, but it's all for the wrong purpose.

We all have sleepless nights, but why are they sleepless?

Are they sleepless because we’re concerned with making our dunya or making our akhira?

How many people have sleepless nights because people around them don't have Iman? Like the Prophet ﷺ who couldn't sleep at night because he would think about people and say, “wow, there will be people who don't have Iman after me?”

How many people have sleepless nights thinking about our neighbors who don't have iman?

That is the demand of our Iman, that it makes us think of other people.

May Allah grant us true sincerity.
