Assalamu Alaykum,

Today we’re going through a gem from Mufti Abdul Rahman Waheed’s class on the tafsir of Surah Mulk. In the commentary of the first Ayah of Surah Mulk, Mufti Saab explains Allah’s authority over all things and how we can earn the blessings of Allah.

Hope you enjoy!

We begin in the Name of Allah , the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad

In Surah Mulk Allah ﷻ says:

(Quran: 67:1)

One of the reasons why the word tabarak is mentioned - and this is something that really stuck with me - when you have something that is less, like if you have a school that has 10 - 15 students, it's easy to manage. The more you get, the harder it becomes to manage. What also happens is that there are more people of authority, so that authority is now shared with others.

Same thing with business, when you have one employee it's easier to manage. Usually an increase in business (the business growing) will also result in a lack of stability and more people of authority.

But that's not how it works with Allah ﷻ. Allah ﷻ is beyond our imagination. Increasing something doesn't affect the stability of it and Allah ﷻ has all authority. Stability and authority have nothing to do with increase or decrease.

We've seen this in our own lives - sometimes we may have a lot but we’re not able to manage it properly. When you start seeing that, it's a sign that it's not being blessed by Allah ﷻ. It has nothing to do with numbers, it has to do with the blessing of Allah ﷻ.

Allah ﷻ is the one that has authority, and Allah ﷻ is the one that blesses. So we seek His blessings through our good deeds and obedience towards Him.

Disobedience is a means of taking away the blessing of Allahﷻ. You're committing a sin and then expecting the blessing of Allahﷻ? Forget about it.

We're committing sins in our homes.

We're committing sins while we're working.

We're earning through haram ways, and yet we expect that Allah ﷻ blesses our wealth -let’s get real…

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to do good deeds and earn Allah’s blessings.

أقول قولي هذا وأستغفر الله لي ولكم، فاستغفروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
