Assalamu Alaykum,

Today’s gem is from Imam Omar Suleiman’s class, Journey to the Heavens: Exploring Isra and Miraj. In this gem, Imam Omar shares the significance of Al-Aqsa.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Some scholars have said that this (Al-Aqsa) is the only place on earth from which Prophets ascend to the heavens. If you think of a portal to the heavens, it is Al-Aqsa; it is that area. This is where Idris (Alayhi Salaam) was raised, where Isa (Alayhi Salaam) was raised when they tried to crucify him, and where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was raised. So, if there is a portal to the heavens, it is from that area of Al-Aqsa.

And that's a beautiful reflection, SubhanAllah, because, as I mentioned, how many people have ascended to the heavens from that very place?

May Allah ﷻ elevate the ranks of all the shuhada (martyrs) of Palestine.
