Assalamu Alaykum,

Today’s gem is from Mufti Abdul Wahab Waheed’s course, Inevitable Delights & Horrors: Life In The Grave. In this gem Mufti Abdul Wahab explains who our companions in the grave will be.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

The process of our examination starts at this point (when we’re in the grave). Some narrations mention that the soul actually comes back inside the body. The moment the person is buried in the grave, Allah ﷻ reattaches the soul, and they open their eyes. When a believer opens their eyes for the first time they may be frightened, but on their right side will be their Salah (prayers), and the Salah will say, "We're with you." On the left side will be their Siyam (fasting), and the Siyam will reassure them saying, "It's okay, we're here, we've got you." Behind them will be their recitation of the Qur'an (tilawah). In front of them will be their sadaqah (charity).

Our good deeds (a'mal) will be our companions in the grave.

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to do good deeds.
