Assalamu Alaykum,

Today we’re going through a gem from Shaykh Abdullah Waheed’s Ascension of the Believer course on Salah. In this gem, Shaykh Abdullah shares his advice for where to start if you have multiple spiritual issues.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Many years ago I was reflecting and trying to think of a habit or practice that if a person is sincerely able to apply, then they'd be able to conquer many great qualities and also be able to subtract many negative traits from their life.

I thought of Hajj.

I thought of charity.

I thought of so many actions, but after constant thinking and reading I figured that one of the actions that definitely makes a difference in our life, if we do it correctly, is Salah.

It deals with a lot of different components in our life. For example, if someone has horrible time management skills, Salah is based on a schedule. Allah ﷻ says:

If someone has extreme arrogance, Salah forces you to be humble when you go down in sajdah.

Say you have extreme hopelessness, Salah gives you hope when you start with reciting Surah Fatiha. 

If a person came to me and said, “Shaykh I struggle with multiple issues, tell me one thing I should perfect first.”

I would say good company and Salah. Salah is a measurable for a person to find his pace back into the sustainable practice of Islam.

May Allah grant us tawfiq to improve our Salah.
