Assalamu Alaykum,

Today’s gem is from Shaykh Abdullah Waheed’s course on the tafsir of Surah Waqiah. In this gem, Shaykh Abdullah explains verse number 3 of Surah Waqiah:

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

On the Day of Judgment things are going to be lowered, and things are going to be elevated. How is that going to happen? 

The Mufasirun say, on the Day of Judgment, the arrogant people who walked on this earth boldly with arrogance, Allah ﷻ will lower them. Those arrogant tyrants who were haughty and arrogant amongst the people of the world - Allah ﷻ will lower them. They can have all the entourage they want, but on the Day of Judgment that won't happen. And the weak people are going to be elevated. 

What a day to see that! 

Everyone's waiting for liberty and justice for the people that are struggling all over the world. Inshallah it happens in this dunya, but if it doesn't happen now, this is going to happen. And I really want to see all those innocent children being elevated on the day when people will be waiting for their reckoning. That's the day they will be elevated. There are so many people whose rights were taken away from them, so Allah ﷻ will give them elevation on that day. 

There will be people who will be lowered into the punishment of God because of what they did wrong. And there will be people who will be elevated because of the good that they did. Umar Ibn Khattab (R) says that the enemies of God will be lowered into hell, and the friends of God will be elevated into paradise.

Ibn Ata says, people who are going to hell are not being thrown into hell because they are treated unjustly. You know, sometimes someone doesn't win a competition because the judges were not fair, or someone wasn't accepted into this program because there was discrimination. With Allah ﷻ there is no form of discrimination. So those who are going into the fire of hell, it's the justice of God, whether we understand it or not. And those who are being elevated are not only being elevated because they earned it, but it is because of the grace of Allah ﷻ.

So this is what is going to happen on the Day of Judgment. May Allah ﷻ make us amongst His Friends and elevate us on that Day.

أقول قولي هذا وأستغفر الله لي ولكم، فاستغفروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
