We begin in the Name of Allah , the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad

Allah ﷻ says فَاسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَى first listen because I know you're a human being's natural instinct is to ask.

(Quran 20:13)

Especially Musa right. With Khidr, what did he do? He asked. Even though Khidr said, "Hey, don't ask me anything," he said, "Okay, I got you.", "I won't ask." Next thing, "Why did you do that for?" You can't ask. So he wants to ask. So Allah ﷻ says, "Don't ask me any questions. Just listen."

That's the responsibility of a believer. Before the Prophet ﷺ recited, He listened. Before he led, he followed. That's the purpose of all of this. Before he did, he listened to. It's not about literacy and education; it's about knowing who Allah ﷻ is. And in order for me to know who Allah ﷻ is, I have to be able to hear Allah's ﷻ words. And then I can act upon them.

This is why there's a virtue. Ibn Qayyim has an entire chapter on the virtue of listening to the Qur'an. This is why there are so many stories of the Prophet ﷺ going to the Sahabas and saying, "Can you read Qur'an so I can listen to you?"

And then, once again, Allah ﷻ said after that, "I am your Lord. Indeed, I am Allah ﷻ." Allah ﷻ reminds us again and again that, "I am your Lord." That's why we have the Qur'an. It's a hujjah; it's a proof for or against us. For us, because it helped us understand Allah ﷻ, and against people because they ignored recognizing Allah ﷻ.

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to listen attentively to His words and act upon them with sincerity and humility.

أقول قولي هذا وأستغفر الله لي ولكم، فاستغفروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
