Assalamu Alaykum,

Today’s gem is from Imam Omar Suleiman’s class, Journey to the Heavens: Exploring Isra and Miraj. In this gem, Imam Omar shares the story of the first stop on Isra and Miraj.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

In an authentic narration in Nasa'i that the first place Jibreel (peace be upon him) took the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to was Tayba, the pure lands—Al-Madina. May Allah grant us a death in Al-Madina.

There's a whole story to that as well. The Prophet (ﷺ) says I'm getting to Madina, and he doesn't know where he is. Jibreel simply tells him to get down and to pray two rak'ahs. So the Prophet ﷺ gets down and prays two rak'ahs. Jibreel then says to him, "Do you know where you just prayed?" The Prophet ﷺ replies, "No." Jibreel said, "This is Tayyiba, the land of your hijrah.” This is where you're going to go. This is where you're going to migrate to.

So it wasn't Ta'if; this is the land that you will migrate to. A glad tiding to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that a land of refuge will exist for him here on this earth as well.

May Allah ﷻ invite us to visit Madina.
