Assalamu Alaykum,

Today we’re going through a gem from Shaykh Mohamed Almasmari’s class about the Humility of the Prophet. Shaykh shares a story of a man that asked if its really possible to love the Prophet ﷺ today, over 1400 years later.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

There was a man that came to me and asked,

“Man, this love of the Prophet ﷺ is it really true?

Is it possible that you love the Prophet 1400 years later?

I know, I try to practice, I try to love him and everything. I follow his Sunnah as much as I can, but that love that you’re talking about from the mimbar, is it possible to love a man that much? Is it even possible to know that much about a man?”

I told him, “Wallahi ya akhi, and Allah ﷻ is my witness, the moment I basically got myself together and began to explore who the Prophet ﷺ was as a man, as a human being, Wallahil Adheem I know him ﷺ better than my father and my mother. Allah ﷻ is my witness.“

It becomes easy to identify what’s weak and what’s authentic even without knowing the narrations because you get a full understanding of who this man was. Of course there’s a lot of shortcomings on our behalf, but the idea of how he carried himself, how he thought, how he spoke only comes when you pay a lot of attention to discover who this man was.

And that’s what we want to achieve with classes like this.

We want to fall in love with Muhammad ﷺ the son of Abdullah, this beautiful human being because if you have to go back to a hadith every time you’re doing something wrong that’s almost impossible. Just remember what he ﷺ would do.

If the Prophet ﷺ walked with you to your house today, when you walk into the house what would you do?

Would you throw your coat on the floor?

Would you take off your socks and just throw them in the middle of nowhere?

Would you yell?

Would you turn on loud music?

No, you wouldn’t do any of those things.

You would walk in and say Assalamu Alaykum.

You would enter with your right foot.

When the food comes in you would take out your three fingers and you’d tie the other two so you don’t use them by mistake.

You’d wash your hands.

Why? Because the Prophet ﷺ is there.

Your life is going to completely change because you have the Prophet ﷺ somewhere in your mind. Similarly when you come to know and love the Prophet ﷺ as a human being it plays a major role in how you act.

May Allah grant us tawfiq to learn about and develop true love for the Prophet ﷺ.
