Assalamu Alaykum,

We begin in the Name of Allah , the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad

The reality in life is everyone cultivates relationships when they can benefit, or everyone cultivates relationships when they have something bigger to work towards. So for example, I can be working for IBM or Apple, and I'll build a relationship with you just because I want to sell something to you. But my relationship with you doesn't really matter, your relationship with my company matters. And therefore, no one remembers the name of the salesman, but everyone remembers the name of the company.

What's happening to us today is that we’re so busy trying to sell ourselves that people remember our names, but they don't remember what our Deen is all about. And this is the biggest difference between a Da’i and a Muqarir - both translate as speaker.

A Muqarir is a person that when they speak and leave—may Allah protect us from being among those types of people—people will say, "Wow, that was such a beautiful session. It was impactful; it touched me in the right place." And then you ask the person, "What was it about again? What was it about that touched you so much, that was so impactful, so tantalizing?" And the guy says, "I don't know, man, but it was really cool." You remember the person's name. You think that person was great.

That's a Muqarir.

A Da’i is a person that, when you leave that gathering—and every single one of us can be a da’i because all of us can call towards Allah ﷻ—its a person who when they finish speaking and they leave the gathering, people will say, "Man, I don't remember that person's name, but they really made me love Allah ﷻ."

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to call towards Him.

أقول قولي هذا وأستغفر الله لي ولكم، فاستغفروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
