Assalamu Alaykum,

Today’s gem is from Shaykh Daood Butt’s course, Denial: Tafsīr Surah Qāf. In this gem, Shaykh Daood reminds us to be thankful for all that Allah ﷻ is taking care of behind the scenes.

We begin in the Name of Allah ﷻ, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,
We ask that He ﷻ sends Peace and Blessings upon our noble and beloved
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Alhamdulillah, we need to be thankful to Allah ﷻ for all the hard work, efforts, and dedication that goes on behind the scenes, much of which we don’t really see. SubhanAllah, it’s fascinating because I’m just looking at what’s in front of me that you don’t see—what’s happening behind the scenes—and there’s so much going on. I’m thinking, SubhanAllah, how do we keep up with it? But that’s the world we live in. Allah ﷻ is looking after everything in this world as well.

Usually, when we look out the window or at ourselves in the mirror, we don’t realize how much Allah ﷻ is taking care of, even within our own selves. For example, think about how we’re able to see—the process of vision itself—and how everything is happening simultaneously: registering what we listen to, processing what we speak, recognizing colors, having our brains process these inputs, forming thoughts, and then translating them into actions and movements.

All of this is happening because Allah ﷻ is making it happen. There are countless things behind the scenes that Allah ﷻ is taking care of, and we need to be sincerely thankful to Allah ﷻ for all of it.

May Allah ﷻ grant us tawfiq to be grateful.
